What tone would you like the images to be?
The Symphonic Inkjet Printing Technology allows you to dial in any tone. You have complete control and you do not have to use a special Gray Ink set or Quad Tone. This technology does not rely on tinted gray inks or low gamut ink set. You can achieve this control on your 7 or 8 color Epson Printer with our Symphonic UltraMax II ink set and Symphonic Evolution Rip. It utilizes mainly Carbon Black Pigment for Long Life. Read on to understand how it works.

From the age of 14 I just had to take pictures and by the age of 16 I was so enchanted with Black and White printing, I began formulating developers for film and paper to increase tonal range and obtain luscious rich blacks. At that time we had a number of different papers, each with different characteristics. They were made by companies like Kodak, Agfa, Ilford, and Dupont. Photographers and Printers like myself had favorite papers and developers. You may ask, what does this have to do with digital printing? Lets examine that question.

In order to obtain pure Black and White prints several companies have created Quad Tone Black inks. Quad Tone inks basically means devoting a printer to only printing Black and White and the hue values of those inks sets the limitations. Epson, on the other hand, created a three black ink system, called K3. With 3 variations of black ink, Epson can rely more on black ink to produce better Black and White prints than they could with their Ultrachrome set of 1 light black. If, however, that your printer or your choice of paper does not produce the perfect Black and White print you have to either try to fix it in Photoshop or produce a profile that still may not make it perfect.

When an ink manufacturer makes different densities of Black ink, they add pigment colors into the mix in odder to prevent the Lighter shades of Black from turning into a brownish shade which in turn led forth to the term "Bronzing."
This effect was prevalent in the original Ultrachrome Ink Set.  Realize that when you are printing with a multi Black ink set, you are printing with non carbon black in your ink. It is quite simple; if you want to have any tone from neutral Gray to a toned Gray you have to add pigment color.

Therefore, the use of color inks are still needed to neutralize the scale or tint the scale. If there are any slight anomalies in the gray scale there goes the perfect print. Paper base will always have a different tone and the only way to balance the tone between the paper base white and the reset of the scale is through software . This is what Symphonic Inkjet Printing Technology is all about. Not only can this technology print black and white, it can print the most vibrant and brilliant color as well.

Other Software:
There are a number of Rip Softwares that utilize the entire Color Ink Set when making a Black and White print. While the print can be basically neutral appearing, it utilizes a great deal of Color Pigment, which can cause a number of problems in metamorism. It also gets away from the purity of Carbon Black.

The Symphonic Inkjet  Printing Technology:
The Symphonic Inkjet Printing Technology is comprised of Symphonic UltraMax II Pigment inks, The Symphonic Rip, and technology to create Brilliant Color and pure Black and White images.

In creating  Black and White Printing, t
he Symphonic Printing Technology utilizes mostly Black and Light Black Inks in the density scale. It controls how much color ink is needed to neutralize or tint of the print. This means that you do not have an excessive amount of Color Pigment being added to the Black and White Print.

Basically you are getting two for one; one Ink set, one Rip Software, and one Printer yields two printing methods, Color and Black and White. There is no compromise in this system. You get the longest life inks and the most advanced software of today.

Ultra Max inks are made for 6, 7, 8, and 12 color printers with a color pallet of over 14 colors.
