Digital Inkjet Ink Technology
and Flo-Guard

As the development of inkjet print heads have progressed with finer and finer ink droplets, the need for superior ink technology has become a must.

Digital inkjet inks are comprised of a number of elements of which there are colorants whether pigment or dye, glycol's, humectants, resins(binders), surfactants, and proprietary elements.

With the rise in interest for higher gloss inks, there has been an increase in the resin content. These types of inks, like the new Epson K3, need to be kept moist. When the resinated pigment dries it forms a hard solid structure which can cause nozzle blockage, and therefore, more difficult to unclog.

At Symphonic Laboratories, we spent a great deal of effort testing inks in various printing conditions, including letting a printer sit for weeks in a dry atmosphere. We know that not everyone prints in the same or even ideal temperature and humidity conditions. We sell an amazing amount of Cleaning fluid to customers that have clogged nozzles using inks from the printer manufacturers.

After months of testing we formulated a new ink comprised of two very special chemicals, an exceptional resin and a unique chemical called Flo-Guard. This revolutionary formula increases flowability, maintains a wetting between the pigment and resin, thus, allowing the inks to perform in a myriad of conditions. It increases the time the ink can sit on the shelf and most significantly, allow for higher pigment loads for richer highly saturated inks.

Testimonials have come in from users of both our Dye and Pigment inks structured with our Flo-Guard formulations.

Robbie Burger: I had clogged nozzles for over 4 months with an acid ink from a major company, but after cleaning out my printer with CLF1 from American Imaging Corp.I had all but 3 nozzles cleared. I purchased a set of Neon inks from AIC and less than 3 days after running these Neon inks in my printer the three nozzles opened up. Scott from AIC told me that the Neon ink is part of a new generation of Symphonic Inks using their proprietary chemical Flo-Guard. The color is outstanding.

Giles Prett from Crane Paper Company: I was asked by American Imaging Corp. 4 months ago to Beta test a new Magenta ink called Magenta 27. Scott stated it is part of a new generation of Symphonic UltraMax II using a new proprietary chemical called Flo-Guard. He also stated it is less sensitive to temperature. I was asked to allow my printing room to drop in temperature as low as 60 degrees. I am please to report Magenta 27 flows extremely well, dries fast and is extremely rich.
