Epson New Printers 7900/9900
There are a new series of printers that have come forth from the major OEM manufacturers, Epson, Canon, HP, Roland through a third party and now Epson joining the group. To us this is an exciting forward step in the inkjet printing technology. I personally, have been waiting to see Epson produce a multi-channel printer for several years. Let's discuss what the these companies have to offer. The OEM ink structure: When we saw samples of HP prints they we rich in Blues and Weak in Reds. Canon prints were rich in Green and week in deep reds. Roland using the older set of ink offered good greens also and poor reds. Into this arena comes Epson with a version of Roland's 12 color setup, but only using 11 colors with Orange and Green. Their new color set should offer a wider range of color and fill the weakness in their greens. The inks chosen by each of these companies in general are very similar. For instance they are all using the same blue shade Green, Blue shade Cyan, and Orange. the interesting element is the Choice Epson and Canon made on their new Magenta. Matter of fact, Roland who started Hexachrome dropped it for years and now all of a sudden hexachrome is back from Epson. Why after all these years? I will let you think about it.
